Danceaway was established by Sue Wilson (LIDTA(LA); LIDTA(RR)) in 1992. The IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) is the country’s largest recognised dance organisation.
Sue has been teaching since the age of 14 and first qualified as a teacher in 1986. Further personal qualifications and extensions to the school’s provision have continued over the years; and still continue.
All pupils are offered the opportunity to take exams with the IDTA + BATD for dance (from aged 3). Participation in exams is recommended (but not compulsory) as they offer external recognition of achievement which gives great encouragement.
New senior exams will provide UCAS points. LAMDA exams for drama are available for those who are ready and wish to take them.
Professionalism & Regulation
We offer professional tuition at every class, with all class leaders being fully qualified, enhanced CRB checked and insured.
There is at least one First Aider present at every venue. Risk assessments and H&S procedures are viewable at any class.

The school’s ethos is to share a love of dance/drama with all ages.
We welcome all abilities and ensure classes are fun and productive.
We do not enter competitions as we believe everyone should learn and enjoy their dance/drama in a calm and non-competitive environment.
